Sensex dives
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009Sensex dived two and a quarter percentage points today. This is despite good results posted recently by banking sector. The markets took RBI’s monetary policy review not so kindly.

The fever conditions are gone by Monday evening. Wrist/ankle/knee pains are still there. The new issue is rashes and itching. Have to control myself hard not to scratch

Here is a trick on how to annoy your (mobile using) friends on Facebook: post an update that has a very long URL (without any blank spaces, etc.). The moment you do that, your friend’s screen will try to fit the entire URL in one single line, without horizontal scroll, thus reducing the font size drastically. Your friend needs to deal with an awkwardly long scroll bar, even after zooming to the right size.
I witnessed the same on my blackberry when one of my friends posted such a long URL. I had to just wait till his post gets pushed out by other recent posts.
My first blog post from my blackberry. All is well, except scrolling within the wdgets. For example, I can’t scroll through my list of categories to choose one.
Got admitted in Casualty ward of Care Hospitals on Sunday morning. Got a bunch of tests done. Most of the observations are fine. However, there is a suspicion that the platelet count is falling. Due for another round of tests on Monday, to doublecheck.
To fight weakness, increasing the intake of soft foods and fluids. Looks like that is improving the condition a bit.
I got a new cell phone number on Friday: xx011 66679. The last 8 digits are non-decreasing order. I like this number.
I commuted to work on a two wheeler for the entire last week. A nice experience.
The fever situation got worse since Friday noon. Buy Friday night, I am running about 104 degrees. In addition to that, I have severe rheumatic pains at the knees, ankles, wrists and palms. Due to these pains, I can hardly walk.
I got some blood tests done. The Platelette count is well within the range, indicating that this is not Dengue. The flip side is, this could be viral fever, which is relatively contagious than Dengue.
Fever has hit our home. Three of us (my dad, Latha and Surya) have fever conditions of different severity. Spent some time at the hospital last night for getting my dad seen by a doctor. Every patient in the out-patient ward has come to see the doctor with flu/fever conditions. It is really scary how severe the fevers are making rounds in the city.
I love the idea of these retractable speed bumps. If your vehicle is slow enough, it flattens under the weight of the vehicle. If the vehicle is too fast, then it continues to be a speed bump.
My thoughts: If the weight of the vehicle is low (think about a two wheeler) then I am not sure if the bump flattens as expected at the stipulated speed.
