Today’s close of Sensex, 17000+, is the highest close in the last 16 months. The last time Sensex closed above 17K is in May 2008.

Surya is heading to Kerala today. He is participating in a chess tournament on behalf of his school. The school team is busy practicing in the last ten days and his game improved a lot. His speed also increased, thanks to the chess clock he recently bought.

From one of my mail replies today:

I realized that my home desktop (OpenSolaris 08/2009) is not efficiently using the home network bandwidth for autoupdates etc. Also, I had some backup retreivals from June. So I did some scripting over the weekend to make sure that I retrieve backups, avoid redundant data and avoid accidental overwrites also. Not a foolproof set of scripts, but they work just fine.

Today’s lunch and dinner menu is calorie rich. Visited a relative’s place for lunch. Fried eggs and chicken fry for starters. Mutton biriyani, Chicken fry and Mutton curry for the main course. Top off the day with Haleem for dinner. What a day!

Visited SA Habitat in Kompally this evening. Our villa is not ready yet and the marketing department doesn’t have the keys today. So visited the villa and checked the place from outside. Roamed around the neighborhood to check the amenities. Took some pictures of the central park. Also visited our garden and took some pictures there too.

This Saturday evening marked my first Iftar attendance during this Ramzan season. Typical dinner with meat based food items…

Kids are busy with exams, so there is no heading out for lunch/dinner. However, no compromise on food: Kheema curry with rice. Short cake cutting event at home, with cake from JustBake (Pure Chocolate.)

BSE Sensex has a positive run during all 5 days of the week and stayed stable above the 16000 mark. However, intraday volatility on a couple of days is a good reason for concern.

Tuesday’s closing price of BSE Sensex (16123.67) is 209% of its annual lows. And this is the first time the index has hit this closing price since 30 Jun 2008.

Also, gold is $1000 an ounce for the first time.
