Half TB on a disc

Monday, April 27th, 2009

GE’s experimental (laboratory grade) breakthrough can put about half-terabyte data on a standard disc sized media. That would be about 20 Blu-Ray disks and about 100 DVDs. May take a while to get this to mass production.

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Bye Bye, GeoCities!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Yahoo announced that it is closing out the GeoCities services later this year. GeoCities featured one of our first web sites in late 1990s. Once looked upon as a geeky cult, GeoCities couldn’t keep pace with the rest of the web world. (Read here and here.) Even though it may not look good by today’s standards, GeoCities was a great service in late 1990s. For example, we hosted our 3-4 page website, a total of a few Kb, for free! That is during the times when registering a website costed about $75 a year and hosting it costed a lot more than that. Thank you and bye bye GeoCities!

Elections-Phase2

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

The rest of the state of Andhra Pradesh voted today. From what I hear from my parents in Godavari districts, the elections are smooth. The polling percentage (of about 70%) is good too. Now that the fate of the candidates is sealed in the Electronic Voting Machines, they have a tenst time till 16th May, the day out counting the votes.

This list of stars who die the most (Hollywood) is really cool. Just wondering who will top the list in Bollywood and Tollywood. Villains excluded.
