The quality of electricity in Hyderabad has gone down a bit. I have seen frequent power surges/blips at home in the last few weeks. That is making all my network gear reboot frequently. I bought a small UPS over the weekend exclusively for the network gear. Hope it takes care of network outages during power blips. In tandem with laptops, hope this gives uninterrupted network sessions. The next challenge is to figure out the power redundancy for the service provider side of the network gear.
Have a local AirTel pre-paid cell phone connection. Its validity is about to expire this week and it needs a recharge (refill) so that the expiry date will be extended. One of the recharge options is interesting: Lifetime validity (about 1000 days validity) for Rs. 99 (USD 2+). After the reacharge, my phone can receive unlimited incoming calls between now and Oct 2011. The only catch is that I need to spend at least Rs 200 (USD 4.5) in calls for every 180 days. That is about USD $25 in the next 2.5 years, to get unlimited incoming calls. For my sort of cell phone usage, this is a good deal.
Went to Hyderabad Industrial Exhibition with Latha and Spurthi on Saturday. Opted to go with public transportation than using my own car. Spent a lot less on shopping than on food and transportation.
. Sony store is impressive. Very good use of space for demonstrating their products. Bade Miyaan kabaabs are yummy.
This is insane. And disturbing. In the outskirts of Hyderabad.
This weekend, our family wanted to watch the much talked about Telugu movie, Arundhati. However, I could not get tickets for this movie in any of the neighborhood theaters. So, no movie this weekend.
We are formally a ISO 27001 certified company now. For the last few weeks, we have been formalizing the security best practices we adopted all the while. We also went through several internal audits and stipulated formal audits. The process is complete late last week. The certification audit report came up very well and reflects the good things we practice.
Republic Day wishes to all. Long Live Republic!
Despite hearing a lot about the movie, I didn’t get a chance to watch the movie “A Wednesday” in theaters. Last weekend, I bought DVD of this movie and managed to watch this unusually 90 minute Hindi flick. I haven’t seen such a nice movie in a while. Perfect cast, perfect background score, perfect screenplay, perfect dialogues, what not! Thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
