Telugu Movie: Ashta-Chemma

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

We have a big backlog of movies and today we went to Ashta-Chemma. I expected a decent movie, but this one turned out to be much better than what I expected. The “melodrama” in the movie is so enjoyable, I kept on laughing through the entire movie. The twists in the plot closer to the end of the movie add the right icing on this nice cake. Our entire family liked the movie. Worth watching.

Rewired

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Took 2-3 hours to unplug and rewire all my home computers, routers and related equipment. One of the powerstrips gave away last week due to a heavy transformer plugged to it. So bought a couple of power strips today and restructured the power cabling. Now kids have a separate power strip for all the computing equipment they normally use. All the routers, wireless and VOIP equipment has a separate power strip. The third power strip powers all the Unix/Linux gear I have. Now the wiring diagram (the one in my mind) looks lot simpler.

Seetaphal and Haleem

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Last week, I started full throttle on Seetaphal and Haleem. This year, I got haleem only from Hyderabad House. There is an outlest just about a mile from my home, so it is very easy to get a take away. So this good season is going to last just a few more days. Let me make the best out of it.

OpenSolaris and Ethernet Issue

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Need: Use Solaris zones to test large number of connectivity hops. Installed OpenSolaris on a DELL Vostro laptop, but bitten by this bug. Had to revoke.

VMWare ESXi doesn’t detect the harddrive on this model. So  couldn’t install Solaris on top of ESX too. Now I need to think of other ways of having a solaris zones install.

CERN’s scheduled tests in the next 24 hours are the talk of the town today. BTW, while talking about CERN, we better visit GridCafe.

Backpain

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Starting Sunday evening, my back started hurting badly. Took some medicines and headed to work as usual on Monday, but the pain increased by lunch time. Headed to Care Hospitals at Banjara Hills in the evening and visited Dr. B. N. Prasad. He suggested a couple of x-rays in the lumber area. After the x-rays are inspected, he suggested that there are no slip disks or other unusual injuries of that sort. Prescribed ten days of medication and a few workouts to follow. Also suggested a couple of days of rest, so that the back would heal a bit. The pain became worse by the evening, but probably the medications would take care of it a bit in the next few hours.

A long silence from this avid blogger

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Finally, the long silence from Jonathan, the avid blogger, is broken. Aug 08 is a month in which he didn’t post a single blog entry. Very unusual. Today, after a silence of about 38 days, he posted a new blog entry. Welcome back, Jonathan!

Virtualization Weekend

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Pretty much the whole weekend is gone to VmWare and VirtualBox 2.0. Not a decent success in making ESXi work on my laptop, but VirtualBox 2.0 is running simply fine. The ESXi hypervisor is not detecting the hard disk on my laptop. This is something that I need to look into and see if this can be patched. Have a hectic work week ahead, so next weekend should be another round to fix the gaps here.
