We are very busy on Surya’s birthday due to work related activities, a few social events and other commitments. Here are some pictures from the day.

I joined NetEnrich this week. This is my first major move after 1995, when I started as a consultant at Sun. We are doing some great stuff in Infrastructure Management and Product Development for internal consumption. Exciting years ahead!
If you are a student, you should check out Google Summer of Code (GSOC) 2008. Last day for submitting student applications is 31st March. FAQs here.
There is a job fair in Hitex Convention Center in Hyderabad from 10.00am to 5.00pm today and tomorrow. Don’t forget to visit NetEnrich there and drop in your resume. If you are a Solaris/Unix/Linux/Windows/Network Administrator and/or worked in infrastructure management related areas, this company is for you.
Tried installing a CentOS guest on top of Vista on my laptop with 1GB RAM. The installation of the guest OS failed due to memory allocation error. Even a FreeBSD guest installation met with a similar fate. May be attempting to take 512MB off for the guest OS from Vista with 1GB RAM is not that an easy task. I should look for either a memory upgrade or some other alternative.
Switched to gdm from cde for my login screen on OpenSolaris. This is how you can do that (assuming you want to use GNOME and not using CDE.)
Surya is done with his year-end examinations. Big sigh of relief.
My International Driving Permit is expiring soon and today I applied for a renewal. I had to get the expiry date of the previous one reset (to yesterday) so that the new one is approved. Interesting business process.
Need to collect it later this week.
Got hold of the first day edition of Sakshi, the new Telugu newspaper. For those who don’t know, the paper is owned by son of the Chief Minister of Congress party led State Government. Here is a picture of the first day’s edition.

The first day edition looks good, but the news is more like a summary than a snapshot. The kind of news you expect in a weekly or fortnightly rather than a daily. May be because this is the first day and the editors want to sum up things.
